
LS Intranet: Small Talk for Informal Communication
«Human» conversation, when it’s just about chit chat, is probably irreplaceable. And in the workplace, it’s especially necessary. Even more essential in times of chronic stress. That’s why we took care of it by implementing a dedicated module called Small Talk into LS Intranet Internal Corporate Portal. This tool succeeds where traditional communication channels are often ineffective: when there’s a need to publish «non-work» announcements, ask informal questions, or share thoughts. Here, you can also rate and comment on posts.
Small Talk operates in two modes: open (posts are visible to all Users) or administered (only designated Administrators can publish, but everyone can comment). It’s not a substitute for official communications, but rather a tool for rapid exchange of initiatives, ideas, and feedback. At the same time, official communications are not overset as required for their maximum efficiency.
For example, in corporate learning, Small Talk will become a centralized platform for open training course announcements. The corporate learning center Specialists (in Administrator mode) can publish information about the launch of a new project management course, while Employees can comment with questions about the program or register directly through an embedded link. This eliminates chaotic mailings and ensures information is accessible to everyone simultaneously.
When implementing new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, the module will serve as a platform for sharing practical cases. Employees can share successful prompts (i.e., on how to create a report in 5 mins using AI-UniBot), while Administrators can remove irrelevant posts (such as discussions of personal topics). This encourages team experience without overloading the main communication channels.
In the social sphere, Small Talk simplifies the coordination of volunteering initiatives. Employees could announce collections in support of refugees or animal shelters, specifying details and goals, and after completion, publish financial reports and photos.
The technical implementation is as follows: the module is integrated into the LS Intranet interface without the need to switch between different windows. Administrators manage settings through a centralized dashboard: select the operating mode (open/administered), assign publishing rights, and remove inappropriate posts. For Users, publication involves a text input field and media uploads. The module’s algorithms automatically index posts by keywords (for example, «AI-UniBot,» «courses,» «volunteers») for search.
In short, Small Talk is a specialized tool for informal yet structured information exchange within LS Intranet Internal Corporate Portal. It provides a unified space for informal communications that must still reach every Employee. This might be «non-work» announcements, such as social initiatives. Or, conversely, posts to share work experience. In this way, the problem of fragmented informal communications in your corporate space will be solved for Users while Administrators will get maximum flexibility in managing such exchanges.
